The Cud Life
Camping, Cookshop, Cottages
Everything under one sky at The Cud Life in Killinghall looking out across the idyllic Nidd valley
Converted from a barn in 2011, this holiday cottage exemplifies the successful mix of old and new in creating a stylish and comfortable holiday accommodation.
Originally part of the old farmhouse, this cottage has been completely updated, refurbished and redecorated. We can also offer two single zed-beds for extra occasional guests at a further cost
Children are £5 and extra adults are £10 each per night (we count adults and children rather than pitches on our little site so that it is not overcrowded)
A converted stable with a modern, open plan living area and stable door into the garden. A mix of old and new creating a stylish and comfortable cottage
We are delighted to be back OPEN and welcoming guests to The Cud Life again.
Here are just a few changes for you to be aware of:
CAMPSITE
Our campsite will be open for the whole of 2020 but WITHOUT the toilets and showers for the foreseeable future and most likely for the rest of this year.
We are, therefore, accepting ONLY caravans and motorhomes with their own enclosed facilities. We will not be having our Saturday night communal firepit and have reduced the numbers of pitches available so as to ensure social distancing.
With no shared facilities and simple, achievable social distancing, we have created a very safe environment here.
Our only stipulation is that ALL guests must wash or sanitise their hands, at our designated point, prior to using the water or waste taps – anyone found not doing this will have to leave the site immediately. Ensuring everyone’s safety is paramount to us at The Cud Life.
COTTAGES
We have taken on a professional cleaning company, specialising in holiday cottages, who follow strict COVID 19 cleaning and sanitising practices.
We aim to keep our departure time as 10 am, providing when they leave, guests open all windows(instructions will be left in each cottage).
The cleaning team will arrive at 11 am and will have left the cottage by 1 pm at the latest, to allow 3 hours clear after sanitising, should further guests be arriving on the same day - at 4 pm (this is only one hour later than our normal arrival time but will ensure that the full, recommended 3 hours has been adhered to - in some cases there will be a day between bookings so guests can arrive at the normal 3 pm - we will confirm this with guests).
We have had to remove a lot of items such as soft furnishings, wellies, toys and books that we consider make our cottages unique. However, we will endeavour to have boxed toys available (which we can sanitise and alternate between bookings) Additional items such as specific cookware can be requested at any time. All plates, glasses, mugs and cutlery will be dishwashed prior to each arrival.
COOKSHOP
Our cookshop will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday 2 pm to 6 pm (the same time as our campsite arrivals) and we are pleased to say that we are currently stocking LOTS of local produce!
We take orders for Kendalls Farm Butchers meat and KD Fruiterers fruit and veg (so you shouldn’t need to visit a supermarket if you do not wish to - however, there is an Aldi under a mile away!)
If you would like a list of available food, please email us or you can find a copy on cookingfantastic.co.uk. Orders can be arranged most days and not just when the shop is open.
Most importantly we can’t wait to welcome you all back, we have missed our lovely guests and sharing our special piece of Yorkshire with those that appreciate it as much as we do.
